CLASS SCHEDULE FOR COMSTOCK, FERRE & CO

We are happy to announce our schedule of spring classes here at Comstock!

All classes are held on Sundays at our location at 263 Main Street, Wethersfield, Connecticut. Unless otherwise noted, classes are free of charge. We do request that anyone planning to attend register in advance by calling or emailing us at sales@comstockferre.com and providing your name and contact information.

April 1, 2012

2:00 PM Showing of the film, "The Farmer's Voice." This independent film, depicts the ersion of small farming in Connecticut, and its recent resurgence. Discussion will follow.

2:30 PM Card Workshop. Learn to make your own Spring or Easter cards. There is a $25 charge for this class, which includes all materials.

April 15, 2012

2:30 P.M. Seed Starting Workshop. Learn to start your vegetable and flower plants from seed. This class will offer instructions for the beginning gardener as well as pointers from a professional plantsman on how to start your garden from seed.

April 22, 2012

2:30 P.M. Organic Gardening Basics. Our own expert horticulturist, Randel Agrella, will explain how to start and maintain your organic garden and answer your gardening questions.

April 29, 2012

2:00 P.M. Planning your Organic Vegtable Garden. Its not too late to plan a full season of growing vegetables from now until next spring. Bettylou Sandy, from Bettylou's Gardening, will show you how to grow a bountiful organic garden, all season long.

May 6, 2012

2:30 P.M. A speaker from the Connecticut Department of Agriculture Department explains the Connecticut Farmland Restoration Program. This is a voluntary program, with an objective of increasing food and fiber agriculture production in Connecticut by providing grants to enhance farm business through farm conservation, restoration and resourcemanagement.

11:00 A.M. Dr. Wade Elmer, plant pathologist with the Connecticut Agricultural Experimental Station, will discuss how to manage plant disease in the vegetable garden with an emphasis on organic and sustainable control methods.
