CLASS SCHEDULE FOR COMSTOCK, FERRE & CO

We are happy to announce our schedule of continuing classes here at Comstock!

 

 

All classes are held on Sundays at our location at 263 Main Street, Wethersfield, Connecticut. Unless otherwise noted, classes are free of charge. We do request that anyone planning to attend register in advance by calling or emailing us at sales@comstockferre.com and providing your name and contact information.

NARGS MEETING: JULY 8, 2012

 

Comstock Ferre will host the North American Rock Garden Society, Connecticut Chapter's July 8th meeting at 10:30 a.m. The public is welcome.

 

Speaker: James H. Lockear

 

Topic: The View from Phlox Mountain

 

Phlox is a genus of 60 species that includes many of America’s most beloved wildflowers, and has yielded plants that are cultivated by gardeners around the world. This illustrated presentation will explore the ecology of phlox species in the wild and the history of their use in the garden. The presentation will be tailored to emphasize species of local or regional interest.

 

James Locklear has worked in the field of public horticulture for 25 years, serving 5 years as director of the Dyuck Arboretum of the Plains in Kansas and 14 years as director of the Nebraska Statewide Arboretum. He has introduced several Great Plains native wildflowers into commercial production and also has conducted research on imperiled plants for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Nature Conservancy.
